  THAILAND: Asia World’ Charity Project

Staff from Asia World Bangkok headed to the North of Thailand to give back to a local community by building a dormitory for a school in Tha Thon province, located between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

The school of ‘Chaophorluang Upathum 9’ also known as ‘Ban Mai Mok Jarm’, provides three educational levels for children in the nearby rural areas: Kindergarten, Elementary level and Secondary level. Currently there are around 470 students.

More than half of the students live in a remote area, making it difficult to come to school and forcing them to reside at the school building or at nearby teachers’ homes. Because of this reason Asia World has decided to build a dormitory for the students to give them a real home during the week spend at school. Each member of the Asia World staff lent a hand with the construction work.

To foster rapport with the children Asia World took part in a football match. Both teams braved the heavy rain and played a thoroughly entertaining match which went right down to the wire, having to be settled by a penalty shoot-out. In the end, the Asia World team were defeated and handed over the trophy to the winners, the Moak Jarm School team.

Over the next year, Asia World hopes to purchase 3 transportation trucks to be used as taxis for the children at the school. This is another endeavour to make students’ lives easier especially in the rainy season when it is almost impossible for the children to walk all the way down to school from the hills.

We would like to invite you to help us to support this fantastic project. Asia World will accept one chosen partner agent from each overseas country who can offer some sponsorship for the ongoing projects at the school. A plaque with the company name will be shown in the village, and the chosen agencies will be able to send their clients to visit the school, see the progress of the projects and spend some rewarding and much-needed time with the children.
