ANTI GOVERNMENT SITUATION IN NEPAL
  Last Updated: 10 May 2010, 17:00

Situation Back to Normal in Nepal
The situation in Nepal is finally returning to normal after a prolonged strike called by UNCP (Maoist) was withdrawn late in the evening on May 7, 2010.

All tourism facilities are now operating normally and transportation to all tourist destinations has resumed.

Nepal is facing an indefinite strike called by the UCPN (Maoist). It has been termed as a peaceful protest and so is the nature of the strike. Today is the third day of the strike and Maoist cadres have swamped the major areas of the capital since early morning. Normal life across the nation has been crippled by this strike.

Though vehicular movements have been barred, vehicles carrying tourists are allowed throughout the valley. The Nepal Tourism Board has made arrangements of shuttle busses to carry tourists to and from the Airport. The country’s current situation can be termed as unusual but there is no danger for tourists.
